“Nothing that I think would make anybody worry. Nene does want to look…strong, for you guys. So she just wants to take the time to right herself before she can do that.”

>You reach over and pat Polka on the top of her head and gently rub her ears, making her eyelids flutter shut and her face to relax
“You are, and she knows she can. If and when she’s ready to, just be there for her.”
>She leans into your touch as you continue to calm her
“The bad times will fade, Polka. And when they do, you’ll only remember the good ones.”
>The fox takes in a shuddering breath

>You stop petting and give Polka a minute to wipe her eyes and regain her composure
