It's a mixture of "haha SEX! The joke is SEX!" people taking the sexuality of everything to the nth degree and the design genuinely being very appealing in the "ideal feminine form" angle because of the above points. At least in my understanding, ymmv I'm just some guy on the internet.
A discussion on "sexuality and the feminine form" usually ends up bringing up H.R. Giger's art, so I'll do it before anyone else does. It never appealed to me, it makes me uncomfortable, there's nothing sexual about his art, it's just unsettling to me.

Find a picture of a sheep and look at it.
It's supposed to be the snout, sheep have snouts. Said snout includes both the nose and mouth due to the shape of the skull. Sheep don't have well-defined lips (like a human or great ape would) for their mouths, so it'd be more accurate to call the whole pink section "the snout."
