i use a firefox addon called nezuka and set my pc to use jap as the default keyboard so i can just switch to あ, type out what i hear and try to piece together a translated sentence. helps to already be familiar with another asian language so i can at least pick up some of the more nuanced pronunciations. process is pretty slow but im super lazy with learning jp.
