It feels like HoloEarth was meant to be a replacement but it honestly took way too fucking long.
And even if they release it... then what?
The girls are clearly not gonna login every day and just grind crafting or whatever for 3 hours. If they were interested in that they would already be playing Minecraft.

All those fancy-ass buildings they spent hours building in Minecraft.. TTT, the statues, the world tree, the half-completed atlantis, the weird houses, the underground stuff, the offices, the rail system, the Hogwarts-like castle that haachama took a fucking eternity to build..

Who even is looking at all of that nowadays?
Kanata and Watame had a small 30 second reaction for the completed castle, and that was that.
The same fucking thing will happen in Holoearth. The girls will play for a week or two and will just get too busy to stream the damn thing.
Fans might enjoy concerts when they happen, but other than that it's just gonna be nothing more than a sandbox plus to squeeze even more money out of fans.
At least Pekora's fan-server was fun while it lasted..

See, the thing with holos is that, whether a stream is boring or not is entirely upto the holo themselves.
Subaru gets deep into RPG games and has a ton of fun genuinely engaging with it.
Kiara ignores RPG stories for the most part and just yaps to her audience about whatever, and her audience enjoys that too.
Some holos play games straight, some try to make jokes out of what they encounter, but in every single one of their streams, no matter what "boring" game they are playing, they will try their hardest to entertain the audience.

What Riona did by blaming the game she was playing for being "boring", was basically admit that she was not going to go out of her way to entertain the audience. She couldn't stick with a game for more than an hour, or talk to her audience, or genuinely engage with the game, or hell - if it's really that boring, then mock the shit out of it! The audience is fine with that too.
She basically blamed the game for her lack of entertainment skills, and then just privated the VOD. Her "apology" was essentially "I'm sorry your feelings got hurt".

All of it signaled to the audience that she is not the type to introspect on things and improve, and that she will continue blaming everything else except herself in her journey forward.
It will take at least a year to repair the damage that one yab did to her.

Hololive has a shared common culture, fanbase, history and legacy.
Ex-holos only have their shared hololive past as a legacy, which they deviate from every single day they stay indie.
At least for ex-nijis, there's this universal hatred of niji, shitting on niji and the commiseration over their shared misery to bind them together.
There's nothing holding ex-holos together, they all left for completely different reasons.
And more importantly, they didn't join a single box or start doing activities together enough to form a box or to have enough box fans to sustain a full thread.
That thread will probably become anti central soon, if it isn't already.

Cover is always going at things like this from a purely sales perspective.
Mio for example was given a set stock but she got swayed by disappointed fans who wanted more, but then the new stock didn't sell out and she had to cover the costs for it.

They know from previous Fuwamoco merch and sales data that JP tends to be MUCH more receptive to voice packs and stuff and EN audience doesn't really buy it that much, which is probably why they thought doing it in EN was pointless, and wanted to save them time.

But obviously sales aren't everything, even if EN audience doesn't buy shit, it still has to be available to buy because "Fuwamoco is leaving EN audience to become JP" is a common shitposting angle that sales-only numberfags would have no clue about. Optics matters too.

Saw a lot of people shitting on Ame's graduation stream, scuff and all.
I know you guys are comparing it to JP (Aqua especially) but it's not really a good comparison.
JPs are closer to the studio and can get help from staff to schedule their final month, set up their streams and record most of the graduation stream in advance, with maybe a few MCs in between and live performances at the end.

And yeah, Ame doing all the scuffed tech stuff with some bipolar emotional tone obviously isn't gonna help, but that's the exact Ame who Teamates watched for the past 4 years - the fans get what the fans want, rest will simply re-confirm the reason they didn't watch Ame in the first place.

Do remember that the whole culture of graduation doesn't really exist in EN other than just the name being used as a stand-in for retirement. Most graduations just happen on twitter, usually because of company and talent splitting on bad terms. I can't really recall any memorable EN graduation streams outside of Sana's.

Despite all the scuff I don't think there's ever been an EN graduation stream on this level (feel free to correct me since I'm mostly a JP only guy).
So I think that should be the correct comparison.

Wouldn't have worked. Lulu and Gibara had a fairly decent western fanbase alongside the hololive growth, but that didn't spread to the rest of the niji box and it pretty much ended once both of them graduated - leaving NijiEN's fresh audience completely disconnected from the NijiJP crowd of EOPs.

Even if Rin had taken full advantage of this moment, she'd be max 5k CCV and doing decently for herself. Without other niji livers joining in, this wouldn't have amounted to anything.

Remember that Hololive's EOP domination didn't start from just one clip. There were MULTIPLE entry points, Azure Lane, FBK memes, Matsuri bandaid, Miko nigga/GTA, Korone clips, Asacoco CMs, neighbor wars, eekum bokum and so so so SOOO many of them.
Rin alone would have done fuck all for NijiEN, proven by just how little the NijiJP box cared for getting an EOP audience.

There is a very interesting evolution of anti-idolfags evolving into VTuber-antis.
Back in the day when idols first found success, you had all sorts of incels and no-life losers (sometimes fanned by male celebrities jealous of how popular women were compared to male celebs of the time due to the idol industry) stalking and reporting about every single "scandal" in the idol industry in order to bring them down, throw mud on their face and hurt their fans.
Every single schizo idolfag that got into an "incident" would be reported on by 30+ rag magazines and inflated into public consciousness due to how rare such an event is in Japan. And they'd always associate it to "idols" and "idol culture" despite an equal number of stabbigs being from various religious cults in Japan. And obviously this mentality spread to the west as well, since they always pick up the "big news" in Japan.

This obviously did not affect the market of idolsfags AT ALL, they still kept selling out, their fans still showed up for events, and the idol industry is still a pretty big deal in Japan, so much so that it's a dream career path for a lot of young women.
The effect is best seen in the most recent attempt and throwing mud at that one news reporter lady for her Wimbledon thingey or whatever. Right after that "scandal" and all the "outrage" from all the people that were never fans of her, she held her meetup and it was fairly successful, but even there you had two of the seething male announcers bring up her "Wimbledon" thing to try and shit on her despite everything.

90%+ of idolfags do not give a shit if you have a boyfriend or husband or whatever, as long as it doesn't affect your idol activities, content output or general effort. There CAN be the effect of "loving eyes" that's lost if the audience finds out (and the dramaniggers make a "scandal" out of it) and of course the resulting shaming of the normie audience "haha loser throwing money at a girl who's fucking some other guy" with zero understanding of what "idol culture" actually is about.
Which is why the general opinion even in that industry is that while not having a bf is the best method, the second best one is to keep the relationship hidden it if you have one.
Naturally this is MUCH harder to do when your actual face and voice are plastered on to marketing materials and people can make side-by-side pictures of idol performance vs "meeting her bf" to "shame the otaku pigs" as they call this audience.

VTubers have the luxury of completely separating their "real life" from their "idol persona". A lot of VTuber fans emphasise that they love the character, and not the person behind it, and this can be seen in the numbers as well.
This means that any "scandal" that's doxxshit will not affect their public popularity (as already seen by several chuubas both in EN and JP). Of course, the "keep it hidden" aspect carries over to this industry as well, which is why they're asked to never talk about "boyfriends" or "husbands" while they're "in-character", because the character they're playing is eternally single for the audience.
You can't put a side-by-side of Aqua and her roommate kissing a guy or something and make a "scandal" out of it. Magazines won't run it, outsiders will try to scream as usual, but the VTuber fans can just say "who?". And it doesn't matter if the doxx is correct or not, they don't care about the "person inside". So there's never any "scandal", and both the chuuba and their fans can continue enjoying their activities while outsiders continue seething eternally.

This is simply the latest in a long line of attempts to degrade the otaku audience by the so-called "normies" (who are now the actual degenerate eternally single incels, as we've already seen the holo audience having a wide array of normalfags watching them and even attending concerts). It was probably because he saw the 38M Yen Aqua got for graduation and once again wanted to virtue signal by going "haha you incels throwing money at married women".
To the audience, it doesn't matter if this is true or not.
"Minato Aqua" and all her content was for her audience first and foremost.
And that's how she will be remembered.
Idols and VTubers will continue to make the dregs of society seethe eternally.

> tl;dr
> chuuba antis are idol antis of old
> both are incels and low-class males jealous and seething that women are more popular and successful than them in the industry
> idolfags never cared if the idol had a bf/husband as long as they kept it hidden, but it was difficult due to their faces being the same both on and off stage
> VTubers do not have this problem
> VTubers are, again, popular and get a ton of money thrown at them (38M Yen for Aqua graduation)
> because they strictly never bring up their SO on stream, any content on their channel is for their fans alone
> VTuber fans do not care about roommate drama
> this continues to make the modern "normie" (actually degenerate incel) seethe

I thought long and hard about it, and the only reason where it makes sense that she wants to leave and the others don't try that hard to stop her, is not necessarily the "company direction" but just how many holos were able to accept and adjust to this new direction - while she herself could not accept it.

Let's analyze some of the rrats (skippa this section if it's too long)
> too much streaming work
Shion took a hiatus and Gura only sporadically streams, Aqua herself only streamed sporadically for a while and she could easily have continued that path if this was her issue.
> too much bts work
Subaru learned to say "No" to a lot of that stuff in order to stop herself from overworking, to the point where she had a whole week free where she could laze around and relax.
It's definitely not a "graduation" worthy reason since the other girls would just help her say No if that was the problem once she told them she was thinking of leaving.
> too much idol stuff
Aqua doesn't hate idol stuff, Aquairo Palette for example is a love letter to idol stuff.
> too little idol stuff
Could be a small sticking point e.g. her last 3D Live getting some criticism for being too "old fashioned". Not necessarily graduation worthy, but small cut perhaps. Same with the cut down of 3D stuff even after getting a bigger studio.
> her management
Possibility is there. I haven't really heard her talk much about whoever her manager is, so they're probably not that close. But again, not exactly graduation worthy since she or her friends can tell Cover to change them.

Pekora has also complained before about holomembers doing more and more sponsor stuff, idol stuff and other non-streaming stuff and becoming distant from their audience. She mentioned it's not something she wants Hololive to become. Pekora herself tries to organize group events, the rabbitality project and stuff to capture that old Hololive spirit and is seemingly satisfied by getting box wins where she can.
But perhaps Aqua was far more saddened by the loss of that environment.

Aqua is an introvert after all, so she's far more comfortable talking to people in mulitplayer games like Minecraft. A lot of her early clips involved her pranking holos and laughing at them (neighbor wars, holo resistance etc.).
Nowadays most of her interactions are irl in studio and stuff, but the ones she mentions also tend to be with girls she already knows through games (Towa, Suisei, Pekora etc.).
She got to know most of her current friends through playing games together, and now that the SMP culture of Hololive is no longer a big thing, she might find it a little suffocating now that she meets most of the newer girls in the studio rather than in-game where she can be more "herself".
Most of the girls seem fine with just streaming very little and just getting passive income, while Aqua may have wanted to meet them in game and have fun, but isn't able to do that now that most of the holos meet irl for the first time.

This is something she cannot really change, as it involves the choices of other members.
There's also the China thing, which would probably not have been a big deal but may have served as a sort of "last straw" for her.
She was obviously not in favor of returning to Bilibili, but perhaps seeing Matsuri - who lived through the chinkout - deciding to return made something click in her head and go "This is not the Hololive I know".
Matsuri would have first hand knowledge about just how bad the harassment was, so her just agreeing to go there for a little extra money - and management pushing Aqua as well for it - may have made her think that there's nothing more to be gained from staying in Holo anymore.
She came to Hololive to hang out and make friends after all. And she made plenty, all of whom are very close with her and will likely continue to be that way. But she can't exactly create NEW bonds anymore. She's not gotten close to most of the new holos, and even the Pekora thing was accidental due to - again - a rare box event happening.
The two big Box events (MC hardcore and Ark) that Pekora organized very likely may have been for Aqua, to give her a taste of the "old Hololive" before she left. Especially because they were a month apart, and likely organized after Aqua made her graduation plans and reasons known.

I'm slightly concerned because this is the same thing Pekora complains about, and if she's gonna stop doing Box events next year idk if anyone else will ever take up her mantle...
She might be going through a similar thought process, but perhaps not enough to quit over it (at least not yet).

tl;dr : Aqua quit because box events stopped happening and everyone became distant, became harder to make friends because she meets most new holos irl in the studio and not in game where she can be "herself". It's not something she can change, and is something most of the other holos have no issues with.

> Watching ERB already stagger in several metrics despite coming on as the strongest in debut week is odd. She hasn't even actually collabed with homos yet.
I keep telling you anon.
Holos have a natural CGDCT buff where - because they're cute girls that are entertaining (You) - you tend to ignore their objective faults, praise them and encourage them to improve themselves, thereby getting inspiration to improve yourself. It's an infinite feedback loop.

If you're not CGDCT, if you associate yourself more with the homos than your own senpai, and you care more about the homo audience than the holo audience...
Well, your objective shortcomings are no longer something people will "brush off". You will be judged like a normal streamer. And if there's things about you that aren't all that great, they become "dealbreakers" against watching you instead of the other 19 talents.

Stuff like her singing skill could be a criticism applicable to EVERY holo, but because most holos are CGDCT (yes, even Bae) they are not directly compared, they are individually praised for their respective strengths without shitting on any of them.

No one will EVER tell this opinion publicly, because EN internet has issues with accepting things that are uncomfortable about themselves.
So this is the only place to learn them.
And ERB is clearly a normie who likely doesn't even know about this site.

As a neutral stream checker, FUCK NO.
It was literally the feeling of going to a karaoke bar with one of my cousins that already has 2 kids and just shouts out her lungs on EVERY FUCKING SONG.
Yellow's laugh filtered me, but her conversation topics are also weird. I'll give her another chance once it's not 4am anymore.
Skyrim is fucking boring so I'll re-evaluate Green once she does a zatsu or other chat-interactive stream.
Pink probably has the best impression right now. I could listen to her bantz with chat for hours, and almost did before I realized I had to go to the gym.
Then again, this is actually the power of holo chat - yes the chat is an active participant in the stream and CAN drive it, she's just using it REALLY well.

I think there's one thing people are missing with the whole
> EN Ollie
thing, is that Ollie was part of the runt branch, and STILL managed to get 1M subs off of her outside collabs.
ERB is part of a mainline Hololive branch, the potential damage she can do is far bigger. Unlike Ollie where her numbers eventually became low enough she started crying, ERB will never go into 3 view territory since she's an EN.

They care more for a "cause" they can fight. And hell, I don't think this is exclusive to them either.
Stories are powerful. I remember making a post about how the old school Holofans getting inducted into the fandom through the story of Aloe, HoloEN, Taiwan, Coco, HoloCN and peaking at Coco's graduation for an insane ending.

Fans new to the fandom don't have any such cause to take up. They can just watch the girls according to their preference, they don't have to report spammers, they don't have to RBI comments, they don't have to check every fanart for hidden anti-Coco messaging.. they can just.. enjoy Hololive.
Now here comes the split in the storyline. CYOA if you would.

On one side we have the extremely ragged EN branch that's not been supported since the debut of Council (even that being overshadowed by Omega), lacking a new gen for about 2 whole years, with many talents taking long breaks or otherwise not streaming.
On the other side we have the homos. Underdogs since the very beginning, struggling to get even a meagre scrap of the popularity of Hololive, finally getting an EN branch for themselves. It's one of the best starting storylines ever.

Naturally beggars attached themselves to that side of the aisle. And naturally most of them are women, since the "brotuber" myth died off once dumb and dumber started cuckposting (and then just left). Their "cause" is to make Holostars popular. The only way they know how is to tweet about them or spread them on every single social media they know of - since that's how women get clout after all.

And so, until this story is concluded one way or another - either with homos actually getting some form of a breakout star, or the branch getting dissolved entirely - they will continue to proselytize and preach to Hololive fans about how awesome "da boys" are.

> Would you want to hang out with a bunch of people who don't even speak your goddamn language?
This is an absolutely retarded excuse that started getting traction after Council debuted.
Myth joined so many JP events while understanding absolutely fuck all English and all of them were tons of fun.
Migo spamming screenshots of Ame, the JPs reacting to Gura in Minecraft for the first time, Ina's archery skills and the haunted house dates with Lamy/Nene... these were absolute kino moments and they only needed the most minimum level of communication from both sides. Hell they even had one-on-one collabs, Gura-Shion and Ame-Roboco etc. which the audience enjoyed, so language is clearly no bar.

Despite most of them being absolute spergs the JPs constantly try to use Passion English to communicate with the EN holos, yet very few of them return that courtesy.
Kaela communicated in very simple words, Ina and Ollie pushed themselves to use their limited Japanese and substituted simple English words when they couldn't find the right JP one.
All of them were able to have a ton of fun, because the JPs are willing to put effort into communicating with them if they don't start spamming 10 English words per second at them.

> The genuine and sincere homofans who have been trying to support the homos seeing people saying they aren't supporting them enough probably does feel like shit.
There's another angle here, that Astel's talk about homo 3D lives was only to his JP fans alone and not the EOPs (because they were already abandoned by that audience post Tempus).
Hell this discussion took a week after his stream to take off in the beggar sphere because the stream wasn't even translated for that long kek
Original stream was on 18th April : https://youtu.be/fWEj-y4Rahg?t=2347
Translations were on April 26th : >>74505490 >>74512246

I don't think the EN homos are doing too badly for themselves, but that's mainly because they're like nijis - they have zero ambition for 3Ds, lives and idolshit, they just want to stream and make mad dough - which they can do fine while being above 500 viewers.

JP homos on the other hand, have always invested their increasingly tightening budget into high production lives and other programs which have almost zero effect on their growth.
They also never had a Coco-like figure who could teach them about a lot of things like the fundamentals of social media, meme magic etc. But much more importantly, they only had ONE person who's actually good at doing solo streams.
If you lurk /stars/ they are very aware that a lot of the homos are "demotivated" or too lazy/prideful to do meta content to increase their popularity. It says a lot that even holos who have 1M+ subs are still motivated to grow higher and spread their mindshare, while the homos - who desperately NEED at least 10% of that growth to even survive for half a decade more - are just done with the whole thing.

Hololive has always been driven by PASSION first and foremost. There's regular holo translators who get 500 - 1k views on their clips but have continued clipping for years because spreading the love of their oshi is their PASSION.
It also helps that their oshis often recognize these efforts - motivating them even more.
Both JP homos and JP holos had to look to the Japanese audience to consolidate their fanbase after their respective EN branches, but unlike the JP homos, JP holos never really told EOPs to outright fuck off en-masse.
A lot of holos have also talked about watching EN clips (Subaru talking about translating and reading comments under her EN clips) and even EN memes (fucking monkeeey) on stream. Some of it might sound dumb and cringe, but it at least shows the fans on the EN side that the JP holos are still paying attention to them - which is a huge motivator for doing more fan content.

The homos have been... passionless for about 2 years. There's very few homos that are actually passionate about doing idolshit specifically - which is what their group was originally formed for. Most JP and EN homos just want to stream and make money, which frustrates the hell out of talents like Astel who want to do more yet are held back due to the collective lethargy of the branch as a whole.
Yagoo's (and Roberu's) dream of "male idols can be popular too!" is the actual dream that's crumbling in front of our eyes.

Anon you gotta realize that EN just cannot have a box like JP. There'll always be issues like "muh geography" (meanwhile:Grindstone) or "no new debuts" (meanwhile:2020-21 Myth) but they've been around long enough for you to understand that it's just not gonna happen anymore.

They collapsed in February and they had fuck all in March, which is why they're pushing so much shit like 5+ 3D debuts and the AR Live - all rushed, all in late March to early April - in a desperate attempt to try and offset the damage that Selen's exit did to their branch both numerically and financially.
From the current look of things, it's not working very well.
I think by the end of April they'll look at their numbers for that quarter, and make the call.
They obviously don't want to announce that they're merging the branch, because that will signal the end of their overseas ambitions.
And if they think publishing the numbers as-is will tank their stock below like 1800 or something - thereby inducing panic selloffs - then I'm 100% expecting a "temporary merger" announcement for NijiEN in April citing "management reorganization" or some other corpo buzzword, in order to merge NijiEN's results with NijiJP and try to just wash out the entirety of Q4 by hiding NijiEN results under NijiJP.
Whether it will work, and become the "temp merger" will become permanent or not, depends entirely on the stockholders' reaction to the news.
They are in a lose-lose situation tbqh.
