Anon you gotta realize that EN just cannot have a box like JP. There'll always be issues like "muh geography" (meanwhile:Grindstone) or "no new debuts" (meanwhile:2020-21 Myth) but they've been around long enough for you to understand that it's just not gonna happen anymore.
They're all clearly tired. So just let it go.
EN viewers are fine with what they get. And you clearly love the JP box dynamics, so just watch what you like and let others watch what they like instead of whining about a some utopian worldline 24x7.

Q4 results come out in June and covers February, March & April.
They collapsed in February and they had fuck all in March, which is why they're pushing so much shit like 5+ 3D debuts and the AR Live - all rushed, all in late March to early April - in a desperate attempt to try and offset the damage that Selen's exit did to their branch both numerically and financially.
From the current look of things, it's not working very well.
I think by the end of April they'll look at their numbers for that quarter, and make the call.
They obviously don't want to announce that they're merging the branch, because that will signal the end of their overseas ambitions.
And if they think publishing the numbers as-is will tank their stock below like 1800 or something - thereby inducing panic selloffs - then I'm 100% expecting a "temporary merger" announcement for NijiEN in April citing "management reorganization" or some other corpo buzzword, in order to merge NijiEN's results with NijiJP and try to just wash out the entirety of Q4 by hiding NijiEN results under NijiJP.
Whether it will work, and become the "temp merger" will become permanent or not, depends entirely on the stockholders' reaction to the news.
They are in a lose-lose situation tbqh.

There's some stuff they can recover from.
> Remove the liver-managers, punish those abusing the position (either LONG public suspensions + forced training, or terminations).
> Hire some minimum amount of competent managers for EN.
> Publicly acknowledge "stealth suspensions" and liver account puppetry, promise to always have a note when management is tweeting on behalf of a liver.
> Public apology from company to Selen (from CEO, or through a statement), and from the livers who bullied her if they are not being outright terminated.

But at the same time they have waaay too many fuckups that they literally cannot correct because that's just how their company was being run in Japan as well.
e.g.
> Not giving livers their play buttons
> Terrible merch cut (assuming it's universal and not clique shenanigans)
> Skeleton crew of management
> ACCELERATE/Sweatshop work environment
^ these are things that affect the JP side as well, but thanks to this yab it's all been blown out into the public.
And they can't really fix this shit without SORELY affecting their bottom line, stock value, and implementing it in JP side as well (believe me, they WILL ask for that when they catch wind of this).

This is what happens when a company tries to expand before being foundationally solid.

Adding my 2 cents here, feel free to document it if you want. I'm too lazy
We all know that the god rrat fits so many pieces of past "management" behavior and ties the entire story in a neat little knot, which is why it's being discussed so much.

But there's another angle.
The God rrat is literally the ONLY way for Nijisanji JP management to come out of this with some semblance of their dignity left.
They obviously can't fire Vox, Ike or any of the "big boys" but Elira is expendable. Especially if they hire a competent manager who speaks English. They can throw her to the wolves to salvage themselves.
But they CANNOT do this in an amicable or "neutral" fashion anymore.
> why?
Their reputation has reached such a low point that Elira getting terminated neutrally (or graduating) will be seen as a "win" for her. It will be seen as her "escaping" the "sinking yacht" so to speak. And she will get a LOT of pity from the crowd for saying "fuck you" to the company when they "made her shit on Selen".

Niji has two options.
1. Merge the EN branch into JP and close off their last and final overseas expansion attempt (it will tank their fucking stocks SUPER hard, possibly into unrecoverable numbers, so it would only be a last resort). This also has the chance of changing absolutely fuck all if Elira remains within the company - if anything it will only make things worse. And firing all the EN livers is just not an option - stock wise.
OR
2. Expose the entire clique, put out the entire story about how they let EN "management" had free reign because of the main branch's inexperience in handling overseas branches (and prior mishaps) and little oversight because that's just how niji has always operated.
Say that they're firing Elira (and others like Millie or Enna, depending on how financially valuable they are) due to years of mismanagement and lying to them when they trusted her to be their liaison to the English branch.
Say you're hiring a proper management team and will strive to be more involved in the day-to-day operations of the EN branch.
Dogeza and apologize for not doing this for the past 2 fucking years.
Apologize to all the EN livers, maybe offer them some compensation money for their mental distress.

This will not salvage them completely (2%, play buttons etc. can't be put back into the bottle), and it will be EXTREMELY embarrassing in the short term... but it will leave the possibility that they can at least chug along for a little longer in the EN VTuber community.

They're honestly in a pickle here.
First thing they'll need to do is acknowledge WHY things got the way it did.
Were there REALLY no one who spoke English among management? Is that why the livers know about Selen's legal document, because they had to translate it for management?

Who is manipulating who? If management doesn't know Japanese, then it's possible that the EN clique could selectively give them information that's bad about people they don't like to get them axed - and obviously if they don't know English and just trust every talent at their word, they can't investigate shit.
Or is it the fact that the EN management are fully in control of everything and are disconnected enough to think they made the right call?
This shit has reached CEO level, he apologized for it and promised to do better, but we still do not know WHY it got this bad.
Right now everyone thinks the livers are being puppeteered (with good reason). Who was doing that? JP management? EN management? Or was it the talents who were acting on management's behalf, or fooling management in order to do so?

This type of shit has PRECEDENCE btw.
Ara Chae for example, the NijiKR bully who was basically running the entire branch as an empire with the help of what little staff NijiKR had been allocated.
So this wouldn't be new for them. Western clique shit is nowhere near as bad as NijiKR, but this has also been festering for 2 years.

The only way they will restore trust is to reveal the answer to the question "Why was management such a shitshow until now?".
And THEN issue the corrective measures. Whether it's firing problematic livers, or problematic management.
Be fully and completely open about it.
Lance the bleeding wound and clean out all the rot.
Only then can they try and heal.

> wouldn't be watching in the first place if they weren't ok with management's scummy practices and the trashy livers
>>68605313
> A handful of fanartists etc. ..won't hurt them in the long run
See, the thing about any VTuber "casual" audience is that as long as they aren't trying to change the culture of what they just casually watch (e.g. beggars, /leftypol/fags etc.) they can be a HUGE help with mindshare and general positive attention to whatever chuubas they watch clips of.

Hell, the entire reason Hololive blew up was because of the casuals and clipwatchers. Almost every single anon on this board found Hololive through clips or collabs with other companies after all.
It's a testament to the holos' entertainment skill that they were able to convert so many of these "casuals" into streamwatchers - causing a ton of JP holos to have half their chat filled with English. Contrast people like Natori Sana or Shizuka Rin who actively tried to filter the EN audience instead of throwing them crumbs and getting them to stay.
Casuals only see, share and show off the "good parts" of the company, and actively shit on people spreading unsubstantiated bad stuff.

But what happens when your company's reputation is completely toast in the western hemisphere?
The people who ONLY watch streams are very few in number for NijiEN. Their casual audience though, is HUUUGE. Clipwatchers, fan artists, animators, fan merch sellers, and just "muh community"fags that just latch on to the popular thing like leeches to feel like they belong.
That soup of people is where streamwatchers ORIGINATE from!

With the Selen move, they've basically turned their company and brand into radioactive waste in the west.
The number of clips and clippers will fall, meaning less new streamwatchers.
Old livers will keep graduating, meaning streamwatchers will keep reducing.
New debuts? They were ALREADY in a shitty situation with reclining numbers, now they're gonna actively get shit on.
This will also cause the quality of their applicants to just PLUMMET, because anyone remotely decent is NEVER gonna apply to NijiEN again - their audition applications are gonna be filled with the most desperate, toxic and slimy types of 2views that just want to funnel audiences into their rm.

NijiEN is done as an entity.

Honest to god, this is the absolute WORST case scenario for niji.
Ideally they would have fast tracked clearing perms for her song, stopped her from leaving and resolved the issues internally before bringing her and her cover back.
Second best case was parting amicably, even if there's no graduation stream.

In my head, the worst case scenario was that they'd just use the "niji copyright" thing to terminate her and leave it at that... but no. They pulled Zaion 2.0.
I honestly thought they wouldn't be retarded enough to pull this, but gods... I guess I underestimated just how retarded NijiEN management is.
Godspeed nijifags. The torpedo has struck, and the ship is sinking. Get out while you still can.

Hololive is the inevitable conclusion of Japanese anime and idol related market forces converging.
There's not a lot of stuff you can do with 3D models that you can't do with just using your face. Chuubas like Azulim and Omesis go the extra mile for their type of content, but it's possible to do that stuff without the VTuber avatar - and get a much bigger normie audience along with it. Heck there's even some campers that never show their face if anonymity is your issue.

What else do you even do with 3D models? All that's left is to do stuff like variety shows (wrestling, on-site karaoke, irl games but in VR) and singing/dancing. All of which Holo attempts.
Imas and Love Live already paved the way for Anime-style Idols, and Hololive is simply the inevitable end point of that market.

Well you could just do streams like a normal streamer, never bother getting a 3D and just.. stream 24x7 I guess. Like VShojo or NijiEN.
But then how do you grow? How do you reach new audiences? Just like with streamers, you're just "another VTuber". You'll need to either stand out with innovative content, or follow the market leader and hope for the scraps from the high table.
Most would prefer scraps, but Americans also have a contrarian culture, so there's some groups forming around the idea of "anti hololive" as well.
And hell if they actually bothered creating some form of content that's different from Hololive to compete with them, maybe it might have even taken off. But they just yap yap yap all day, so they just get ignored like everyone else trying to take potshots at holo.

3D idolu concert is the "measure of success" because that sort of proves that you're at a level where you can do that kind of stuff and have people come and pay to watch you do it.
And it will stay that way until someone else comes along and starts innovating or popping open a market in 3D content that no one knew existed.

> assuming you’re their new Director in charge of unfucking their image
NijiEN's problem is the same problem that NijiJP faces.
The foundational issue is that the entire company business models is summed up with
> ACCELERATE
You cannot have a sustainable base of talents that work well with each other when you keep spewing new livers every few months into both branches.
It's like League in a sense, they keep putting out more new champions than reworks or buffs for the old ones that have terrible pickrates and winrates.

NijiEN in particular, has several reputational problems that cannot be fixed at this point without digging up a ton of old drama.

1. None of the livers involved in the discord leak have apologized for shitting on HoloEN or having dogshit maths skills TO THIS DAY.
Nijisanji pretended that the yab didn't exist, but people saw it. People know about it. And people remember it. Fulgur will never get a Holo OR Homo collab because of that lack of apology.
Compare and contrast to Matsuri's menhera posts about Rushia going to Haachama's 3D but skipping hers. Within a day or two management advised her and she apologized, and the yab was done.
2. Shut down that fucking discord with zero management oversight! They are forcing a split among their own livers, which trickles down into the fanbase. Only Selen, Pomu and a few others who cared more about professionalism use your official servers. Everyone else is communicating through a channel which you have ZERO access to. And slandering your competitors while being careless enough to leak it.
Shut that shit down!
3. 2% merch thing. It's not something they can fix for EN alone, because NijiJP also has the same cuts. Maybe they can put up an explanation post about how voicepacks and other stuff will give more of the cut to the talents - but then shareholders will riot about telling the fanbase to buy things that give less profit to the company.
4. Stealth suspensions. People know, you can't really hide it anymore if you fucking tell them yourself on a god damn official company statement. Publicly acknowledge that they used to do that and that they will stop, it will help with talents that want to take more breaks without speculation.
5. Zaion. Apologize for your fuck ups, publicly fire the guy who handled that disastrous affair if you must.

You can see how every single point is a fucking pipe dream to expect from a corporate, ESPECIALLY a Japanese one. They will lose so much face, and even if they DO all this, the JP branch will expect something like this from their end as well, for all their buried yabs and mistreatment.

This is why most anons keep saying that the situation is unsalvageable for them.

They can try to push ENs through the studio and get 3Ds for at least the Golden 20 within a year or so, that will raise confidence in them quite a bit.
AR live can be done with just those 20 as well, the second half shitters don't have enough of a fanbase to complain about it.
That will be a decent enough start, but it will also be extremely difficult to do without at least pushing some of the shitters in JP down the priority queue - which will ruffle some feathers.
Sponsorships for stuff that the livers want would help as well.
Biggest problem will be the clique and it's influence, someone WILL need to put their fucking foot down and tell them that everyone will be treated the same and they won't be getting special treatment.
None of them are in a position to just up and leave because of that alone, they will suck it up.
And of course, do all this while avoiding anyone leaving for at least a year.
Like this anon >>67344970 said, it's a SHIT TON of work, more than what most people would bother with.
But they'll need to do AT LEAST that much if they want their reputation to reset back to neutral.

Not even Cover understand why and when you're supposed to advertise using billboards (see: Uproar).
Japanese people have been bombarded with anime girls for so long that if they're seeing some unfamiliar girl on a billboard , 90% of them will just glaze over it.
Only 10% will actually look at it, and most they'll do is go "へー" and maybe "かわいい" then walk away - if they're alone.

Billboard ads shine in group settings, when you already have some amount of mindshare.
You walk in a friend group and you see your oshi's ad and you're like "oh shit that's my oshi" and then maybe 1-2 of your normalfag friends might get curious and ask further, you share a few clips and maybe one of them finds either your oshi or someone in her group interesting.
Even if they may be uninterested at first, you can always go "she has x amount of subs!" and then all of them will go "sugeee" and at least check out the channel if nothing else (especially if it's 1M+).
This is how Hololive works.

Whether it's phase, or vshojo or homostars, none of them have enough mindshare in Japan to spark these types of conversations.
90% of the time, a normal Japanese work/friend group walking past the billboard will never have a phase fan, or a vshojo fan or a homo fan among them.
And even in the rare cases that there IS one, they will usually tend to keep quiet. If they try to shill, the others will see "へー 20k subs huh, must be some niche thing, good for you" and the conversation ends there.

Idol and Nijisanji EN had the right idea, when you're starting out you advertise with your own ads on Youtube. This thread hates seeing it, but that's how a bunch of people who are maybe tangentially in the hobby get exposed to new chuubas. It has the added benefit of bringing some good numbers to the video ad as well.
Phase JP is 100x more likely to get a new fan from an ad taken on some holo or niji video.
They do not have enough mindshare for billboard ads in Japan just yet.

Mel just didn't have that many fans in the EOP side.
And well, after she started her male collab arc, even those that were fans would have become antis.
Mel also didn't nearly have as much of an impact as Coco, and was basically being pushed up by the rest of Hololive.
It was also a surprisingly amicable parting from both sides from something we know Mel WAS dumb enough to do.
It's just an "it is what it is" situation.

> The same way that seeing a rich kid burning money for content, a former athlete or an abrasive, unfiltered Gundou was refreshing, and something that was lost for the exchange of polishment and idolism in recent years.
You could argue that this is not an "industry" problem and rather a "nijisanji" problem.
Nijisanji used to be the company that served folks like you, those who preferred variety in content, vibes and different types of people doing VTubing.
Their whole shtick was that "we have something for everyone".
I'd argue that their recline matches the moment that they left this ideology behind and began going to a more polished route.

Also, about Subaru in particular, her numbers were in an absolute gutter back in the day you know? Because she was a bad streamer, would have technical issues up the ass and waste a bunch of time trying to fix them, during which a lot of her already small audience would leave.
She only started getting good numbers, popularity etc. when she improved in those aspects and got a chance to show herself on stream rather than 1/4th of her time being wasted on technical shit.

VTubing has risen in standards, and so people expect a better baseline because they have 100 others to watch if you debut someone who doesn't know shit and wastes the audience's time correcting tech shit every time.
Cover obviously doesn't want that for any of their new debuts so they have basic streamer training now, meaning less chance for accidents and time wasted with tech shit (although even that's not perfect, as the many many tech messups in even this month's collabs show).
