Hooman... There isn't really an easy way to do that until we draw out the detailed topology for everything. I had the same autism as you so I generated mine based on the existing topology with Houdini. I might have something to help in my 3d models...

Oh yeah, my example is quite an enormous crater. Not sure what you want to use yours for, but if you want yours to not be too eroded without the impact having exterminated all life on the planet, it'll need to be smaller I think.

I just used clip paint studio to make all my maps, it wasn't too bad. The main thing is having a good layer-fu. If you want to know how I did any specific thing I can help out.

Man, making those is more fun than it has any right to. I think I'm happy with this version for now.
All this was done with the free version of Houdini btw, they let you get away with a lot of stuff.
If I can stop myself from making another version, I think I'll make an hydrographic map next, tomorrow.
