I took a break for a few days due to personal reasons, but i heard about Basedapoyas graduation and started downloading the vods off the fan channel that another anon from here maintains? and posted here before that i added to my rentry on their request: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGIxAtP_NM7MFXyiZ3wRYnA and properly rename them with the date etc. using data from twitchtracker. I will also live record whatever future streams that happen until her graduation to prevent muted parts.

It will likely take a while before i can throw them on either MS onedrive or archive.org as im busy with other archive related stuff that i wont go into detail, but they well end up on there as well in the future when i find the time as a mirror option to the fan youtube channel.

Speaking of archive.org. I also started uploading my nyanners vod archive there and the 2020 vods are done uploading: https://archive.org/details/nyanners-vod-archive-2020-vods and uploading from my pi/chrome was suprisingly faster than from my desktop/firefox. I was actually able to move 150GB per day as compared to my usual 170+ a day, so its less restricted than i originally thought and maybe firefox limited the upload speed to it.

So yeah archive.org is a good option for free backups but it sucks for streaming of vods. If theres anyone vtuber/official editors here that have problems with Copyright strikes on official youtube channels, maybe using archive.org as temporarly storage while waiting for the strikes to expire as to not risk the account may be worth considering and resuming uploads to youtube after they expired. At least if they dont have the local drive space though id always reccomend keeping local backups as you never know when youtube may fuck stuff up and delete someones entire vod channel for stupid reasons. Having local backups of vod channels means you could always reupload them.

For context all of nyanners vods since her vtuber debut (from what i remember she didnt want any pre vtuber vods shared,so i never looked for them) are currently exactly 8,10 TB of space which for 3,5 Years of vods in 1080p/60Fps isnt that expensive. You can get 12TB drives for around 200$ so its always worth considering keeping local backups of vods for safekeeping. Either way, sorry for the archive blog but maybe it has some infomation that may be of use to some.
