There are actually many, likely the same amount, of male en vtubers vs female, just far less known given how little audience there is for now.
An no they're not "all trash" there are actually quite a few very solid ones (little_s_, Halbernacht, many more).
Granted being usually much lower in views it can give more work to scouts, that much is true. They went for the biggest and most visible ones for the girls and can't really do that for males.
