initial release of T7 was 2015, console release was two years later, and dustloop was founded in 2011. i don't think it's age so much as type of game. anime players all caught onto the dustloop formula pretty quick, just like they caught onto numpad notation pretty quick, but even up through all of SFV, supercombo sucked and was using old notation. it's not even like gear is all that much younger of a game than tekken, there's just some weird resistance to new things in "traditional" fighter communities when the dirty anime players try and tell them about something new.

something tells me it comes from the old "save it for nationals" routine where no one wanted to share their secrets so they could spring them on people in tournament. thank fuck that changed. no idea why the idea of having a universal language is so offensive to some people though.
