Yeah, I was thinking of something similar, I've already done stuff like that before like pic related where I started on one checkpoint and then switched to a different one when upscaling with img2img/controlnet. Would be interested to try it here though my GPU might not be able to handle SDXL anyway if what that other anon said was true.
