I don't know enough about Live2D to explain in detail without talking out of my ass, but just look at stuff like how Uki's mama draws him vs. his actual model.
Clearly something turned out different between the artist's vision of the design and actually making all the bits and pieces that go into a Live2D model, and from what I understand that's common for first-timers.
