What country education is this? Russians were shaky on their newly obtained territories and there were massive administrative & military purges of 1937 and 1939-1940 winter war with Finland, WHICH WE LOST.

Russia was not in shape to fight a war for another 2-3 years and Stalin was biding time to build up industry and army, but he didn't get it.

We didn't think Hitler would dare attack us before dealing with Britain, but Hitler fucked up his Navy in Scandinavian campaign and was in no shape to take on the brits.

We even made a fucking secret peace treaty with Hitler and split Poland in 1939 in half, part of those new territories USSR wasn't ready to defend in 1941.
