I'm also a 2006 guy but the quality of the website has it's ups and downs, sometimes I didn't visit for ages. I was on /jp/ for a long time, then I was like fuck this. Then I saw how both /a/ /jp/ and /v/ devolved into shit so I stopped coming here for a year or so. Then I got back...

Then I returned to to check /vt/ and what I expected was rrats everywhere basically shitting on vtubers 24/7. But no it's actually pretty okay.

And then came /yah/

This really this. I can remember communist and nazis dissing eachother and then agreeing on stuff. I guess the extreme left wasn't as mainstream as now so it was all a lot calmer and better. Man I even bought NHK LN the moment it came out and I had no job or anything.

And it's also crazy when I look back, I know about N3 Japanese know, I've been to Japan multiple times, I'm discussing with people living in Japan what to buy in Aeon, I can listen and understand Vtubers just fine for the most part, I can get into arguments over what donburi chain is the best.

But Japan it moves too fast, everything I cared about is nonexistent now. Touhou, Early TypeMoon, Arcades, Unique Doujin Games, OStan, niconico MAD culture, the start of pixiv.

Time has swallowed it all and what I'd give to go back with this knowledge and actually enjoy it.

Oh it's crazy it's really accurate also Yakuza Kamurocho will prepare you for Kabukicho. I remember walking down a street and I was like there should be a shrine after this next turn. And holy fuck there it was.

At best I can scour mercari and yahoo auctions for remnants of a bygone era.
