Think of your own VN girl preferences: you go for the silent cool girl in the VN and then one day you notice she's at a party laughing and being extroverted, that would leave a sense of "betrayal" in how the character was originally portrayed, right?
Character development however does exist but it needs to be clear it happened because of the MC: for example, the silent guy might become "aggressive" around the latter half of the Vnovel because "she can barely control himself around her anymore".
Think carefully about how you want to portray your persona and only gradually introduce subversions. You don't want to be the Episode VII of otome characters.

Also I should have mentioned this but you also have to be very good-looking, there's no way around this part.
