You get more spread but also less speed.
It's good if you want to make sure you hit someone in a room, but you lose a lot of range and energy so no more bird hunting. It's enough to cut off the choke though. Anything shorter is mostly to be able to hide the weapon or to make sure it doesn't get in the way in very tight spaces where a handgun would be better.
