Fun fact. China is effectively Europe if Alexander had succeeded in creating a lasting polity. They're an empire 10 times past its expiration date but due to its lack of internal natural borders they just implode over and over and over again without ever managing to successfully balkanize. This has given them a massive collective death drive because each time someone builds something it gets destroyed but nobody ever gets to actually leave.

India is the same. Though where in China it's the lack of internal borders in India it was the cow. What often destroys empires (Rome was a major example, with the increasing desertification being well-documented if unexplained) is the destruction of its soils.
