You were human once, a long time ago. Until you transcended your corporeal form by swearing allegiance to the underworld. But rather than something cool and interesting like reaping souls or delivering final judgment to the wicked, you were given the far less glamorous job of tending to the souls of the departed under the tutelage of the god of the dead. And as it turns out, the dead are a bunch of mopey whiners who never seem to run out of things to complain about. Perpetually bored and annoyed after centuries of mind-numbing drudgery, you finally think you've hit your big break when you find yourself summoned into the world of the living by a certain necromancer...until you find out she just wants you to play nanny to her ever-growing legion of undead followers.
At first, she and you don't get along. At all. Her usual methods of intimidation and threats of violence don't work on you, and you've got hundreds of years worth of frustrations that you're all too willing to air out at every available opportunity. But maybe, in time, the two of you can come to tolerate each other. Or more.
