>eventually you start to forget about her. you find a nice girl and begin to settle down having fully taken over your parent's business
>suddenly years later you get a message out of the blue
>your childhood friend is coming back to town to introduce her fiance to her parents
>she wants to meet up
>she's curious about how you're doing
>she never forgot you but was too shy and too busy to keep up
>you stay up all night chatting with her
>she finished school, started her career, and found a life for herself
>morning comes and you're still talking
>you call your employees and tell them to open without you
>still talking you learn she eventually found a man and wants to introduce him to her parents and settle down
>that's great, you say. she tells you she's coming back to town next week and you set up plans to meet
>a week of sleepness nights pass. you aren't sure why you feel so uneasy
>the day comes and the train arrives
>she's back in town
>you greet her and her boyfriend and take them out on the town to show them what's changed and what's stayed the same
>everybody is having a great time and drinking and enjoying the vibes
>eventually the boyfriend is getting drunk so you start heading to the hotel they've rented for the night
>you're carrying his drunken passed out body on your back and chatting with her
>she opens up about everything that's happened since, all her desires, all her fears, all her misgivings, and all her hopes
>you share your struggles and journey and hopes and fears and dreams
>at last you arrive at the hotel
>you enter and drop the drunk guy on the bed
>you're about to leave and she grabs your cuff
>"you know, anon... i... never stopped thinking of you"
>you look at her
>she's on the edge of tears
>"i never stopped thinking about you" you tell her
>things turn silent. everything becomes awkward.
>you reach out, grab her chin, look her in the eyes, tell her "i love you" and kiss her
