Anon, the waiting room cull is something as old as 2020, and it used to be much worse in the first few days

Anya debut stream got frozen at *zero* viewers for eight minutes after the cull because they didn’t show the number until all users were processed.

The new part is not the cull but the fact streams aren’t recovering from it anymore, either taking a full hour to regain the initial number (when it used to be a minute or so) or never doing it and staying at 40%, 30% of that number

They did "fix" what was causing the most vocal complaints. It was keeping the view count as ZERO after the waiting room cull, sometimes for 8 or so minutes.

They fixed it by releasing the verifications in batches (the post cull constant and gradual incline that used to happen).

The only reason they admitted back then is that, on top of the cull, views were being shown as "zero" for minutes after the waiting room cull and it happened, for instance, on Anya's debut.

Their "fix" was to release the data gradually after the cull instead of waiting until all were validated. They didn't fix the cull tho, it was deliberate and they admitted to it 10 days later

This is one of the indications that people notice, the other one was the waiting room cull
>pic related, for Anya's debut on Dec 5

Stream went from a huge waiting room to ZERO and stayed at zero for some 8, 10 min, then the number would jump to the tens of thousands CCV.
Right now, to avoid that, they started doing that "batch verification" where they release the viewers at 1k, 2k batches per minute. It is the same thing anyway
