The waterfowl dance can be triggered from range if you throw a projectile of anykind at her. It's still bullshit though if you get caught in it while you're doing melee hits. It's frustrating. I really don't like cheesing the fight and I'm close to just ash summoning or something but I'll keep bashing my head into it until I beat it.
