how could someone who has been youtubing for years be so completely incompetent at setting up the most basic of streaming equipment (microphone, ethernet cables rather than using wifi, selecting a decent isp package in one of the best internet connected countries in the world)? i don't get it. is she just kind of an actual brainlet?

I hold no emotional grudges against either company. When hololive does boob jokes, they're just quick one and done skits. A brief flash or a zoom in. Compare that to Hime's approach to boob jokes. There's a world of difference. Vshojo gets way more direct and more blue.
