Yeah but that's how relationships work. It sucks but nobody's gonna want to date a friend and unless they're a streamer or a stalker (you have no chance with either option) you're not gonna know enough about them to know if you actually wanna be in a committed relationship.
You go on a few dates and if you hit it off personality-wise or you're just both horny then you fuck on the first few and then if you match well both in personality and in the bedroom you stick it out.
The entire point of the first few dates is to get to know each other and see if you hit it off enough to wanna stick it out awhile. Then after 6-24 months you realize you really really like her and wanna get married or you break it off and look elsewhere.

If you're working a normal job it's awful since the visas sometimes only allow you to work in the specific area you got your first job in (hey you're a senior software engineer wanting a promotion? Too bad! Management isn't computer science) and the culture in non-gaijin companies is awful even if you do know the language.
