Gripen is not produced in the numbers the F-35 is. It's a special snowflake plane being made by a small country with a small industrial base. The F-35 meanwhile is benefitting massively from economies of scale to the point where it's basically cheaper than all the Euro canards, and that's without getting into the substantial real life capability gap of the thing. F-35 also means you get a lot of interrogability with the rest of the nations who use it, and the more you have the more you benefit from the "distributed AWACS" that inherently comes from its sensor suite and data-linking.
The Gripen isn't a BAD plane per se. It's really cool for what it is, but it's already outdated in a world where the F-35 is only becoming more and more prolific.
