The main character, Kiana, has been struggling with depression up to the arc that the song is played. Basically she inadvertently caused her mentor to lose her life while saving her and having hordes of creatures attack humanity. This event was just a small price one of the antagonists of the game, Otto Apocalypse, orchestrated to put his true plan into motion and it was planned since Kiana's birth. Now she is literally fighting an overwhelming hive-mind enemy that can read minds and steal the protagonist's powers.

The enemy basically puts Kiana's whole party out of commission and she is the last one standing. The song plays during this animated short that occurs right after.

By giving up her suicidal savior complex and learning to contextualize why her teacher would sacrifice herself for Kiana she gains the determination to live beyond her guilt and vows to fight for all that is beautiful in the world as herself instead of the tool she was born to be. And through the ever present power of friendship defeats the enemy that represents humanities ugly nature and resentment towards themselves and the world.

Tried to summarize but it's been a while since I played that chapter so sorry if it's confusing. The animated short is pretty self-explanatory so I recommend it.
