>If PS2 is already Retro, then the PS3 isn't far behind.
Not at all. PS3 through to this very moment and for the foreseeable future is its own epoch. It is the age of mass standardization, mass appeal, and mass homogenization. Small teams of enthusiasts working to realize a focused, if experimental, vision have been replaced by diversity hire drones whose product is dictated by market trends, focus group data and one of a handful of homogenous genres that spawned out of the 7th gen: the cinematic ots shooter; the openworld action "rpg"; the sandbox gta clone; and the fps themepark ride. You're either placed in a sterile open world free of level hazards or anything interesting, or a linear corridor assemblyline of set pieces. level design has become non-existent; the world is strictly a vehicle for telling some failed hollywood jew's pozzed story or to display impotent set-pieces to wow the sub100 iq mutt masses. All have the same controls, same camera, same derivative mechanics and same focus on presentation over actual gameplay. This all started 7th gen and hasn't really changed save for finally relinquishing the brown and bloom shitspray art direction, even if though most devs are still afraid of using colors and contrast and everything looks washed out. Aside from competitive online play I can't think of anything redeeming from the last decade and a half of gaming.
