Somebody needs to explain to Botan that domestic cats are prone to kidney disease because they tend not to get enough water. They don't like drinking stagnate water and are attracted to running/flowing water. If you own a cat, you should also own a drinking fountain for it (~$30 on amazon) and perhaps feed the cat wet/canned food (at least occasionally). A properly hydrated cat is a healthy cat and goes a long way towards preventing kidney disease.

Something else of note is that modern domestic cats are descended from desert cats which have adapted to primarily derive their moisture from their prey's (blood, organs, etc.).
