We kept bringing it up so I decided to download the whole series and give them a read.

Book Review: Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery

>A rabbit, I concluded, is cute to look at, but is generally useless, especially as a companion to dogs.
>Chapter 3, Some Unusual Goings-On

Pretty short, only about 100 pages and not too complex of a read, as expected of a children's novel. It's presented as a letter and manuscript written by Harold, the family dog, who narrates the story. Bunnicula is a mystery character for the entire tale, and never once speaks a word, while most of the intrigue is carried out by Chester, the family cat who tries various schemes to combat Bunnicula's reign of terror (sneaking into the kitchen at night to drain vegetables of their juices).

There's all kinds of cute little scenes, and despite being simple it's well written and interesting to read. At one point Chester mis-read a book about killing vampires, and instead of driving a stake through Bunnicula's heart, Chester tried unsuccessfully to pound a steak (sirloin) through Bunnicula's heart. Poor rabba. It reminds me a little bit of how quests in Wizard101 might be written.

My biggest complaint is that Harold, who is a dog if you remember, is very fond of chocolate cake and chocolate cupcakes (with cream in the middle). Cute in most circumstances, but isn't chocolate deadly poisonous to dogs?!
