I agree that the law is stupid and jewish, also I'm about to watch this new Pippa, so I'm certainly not anti-ing or anything. But trademark law says that you are obligated to defend your trademarks, or you can eventually end up losing them. This is a big reason why fan games that use some major IP tend to get cease-and-desisted, even though the original creators are all retweeting it and praising how cool it is.
