definitely just a skill issue. Most of the players right now are almost always random novices just trying out the new character, I've only met about 2 competent people who were able to utilize her mobility and mixups properly (which makes for a formidable foe if you also can't deal with the projectile spam either). Ayame got overhyped or patched into the ground (idk which) and I have yet to see decent Pekora players who can do more than spam corner combos and play demolition derby. Botan became pretty easy to overwhelm in neutral but that could just be me not seeing decent players yet
