I'm kinda stupid right now, but I've been rotating Magni's menshi in my head all day and have some thoughts-
TL;DR: After (you) die, Magni still has to experience the death of his first guild, and now he's a closed-off emotional wreak.

What's sadder still, is that, he hasn't even lost his first guild yet. In the video Magni does mention that he's been tinkering with the Glovecloak idea, citing that only a sick freak would make something like that. So, he hasn't yet. He still has yet to go through the pain of losing a whole guild- right after losing the first person he thought he could trust.
(Remember that he thinks (you) betrayed him because (you) basically threw away the entire romantic/emotional relationship that's been built up for a year- a relationship where he let you into his heart and body lol- for a whim that got (you) killed.)

So, he likely closed off his heart after that. What's the point of loving someone if they never loved you back the way you did and, from his perspective, would rather die than be with you? BUT! He still joins a guild before Tempus, right? Which is where the Glovecloak comes in.

Magni, after adventuring with these guys for a while, probably unconsciously opened his heart back up and got attached. He loved his guild, and they loved him- too much even. They were all killed when something went wrong, but before passing, they all did everything to save Magni. He probably trapped their souls in the Philosopher's stone he always wears in an emotional fit and ran home where he saw his completed Glovecloak- it just needs to be installed. So he does.

Because he's learned that there is no point in loving other people if they'd rather die than be with him, and that there's no point in ever relying on other people if that only gets them killed. He'll just do everything himself, and get whatever he needs by himself no matter what- even if he has to betray someone. It's fine if people hate him. He'd rather people hate him. So that he can pretend not to care about them. So that he won't get hurt ever again.
