"Cringe" is not a word in common use by this community, but a word commonly used by a different community to refer to pretty much everything this community enjoys.
There is no "shared community" using that word, there is the "outsiders" using it to refer to the vtuber community.
That's the part one of the point, with the part two being the conclusion in the post you replied, that "the opinion of people not from the intended audience is irrelevant".

About the "forever" thing, line dancing, parachute pants, shoulder pads, aerobics VHS tapes, perm hair were all the rage in the 80s and 90s and, despite people looking back and correctly seeing the excess, nobody gets judged because people are intelligent enough to understand that the prevailing feeling of an era can only be judge in the context it happened but not in hindsight
