This is very true. You'll get a lot of newbies interested in TTRPGs because of all the hype around them (mainly D&D) but most (say, 2/3rds) get pretty dismayed and get bored or lose interest before the first campaign is over, unless the GM turbo-normiefies it,* and that's pretty evident with Mythbreakers.

Some people just don't want to deal with the basic bookkeeping that even the simpler (but not to the level of rules-lite) systems have or don't have the attention span to focus on something without flashy visuals. And in the case of Myth, you have Gura and Ina's periodic disappearances and Ame's general insular nature.

*Which is where you get people that say things like "we play D&D, but we don't roll dice" or GMs who are open about how they have their players roll dice for skills, hits, damage, tc. but say that they have battles end "when it feels right" and not actually when the enemy's HP hits 0.
