The thing is though initially it wasn't about streaming, it was a virtual personality which was inherently more along the lines of playing an anime character. That inherently lent itself to "idol culture" since anime characters are typically idealized and pure.
Hololive mixed that with a more natural personality with varied results and levels normalfaggotry. But they were still more focused on the idealized anime character type thing with the normal side being more a prompt for their anime side.

Nijisanji just pushed the generic e-thot streamer side who gave no shit about the anime side of the medium.
