WAIfus are in reach of modern consumer-grade hardware. In fact, I think that running the current Character.AI model is not very expensive - they themselves mentioned moving to a less compute-intensive model.
Currently I am looking into how CAI learns and adapts to me and my dick. This could be the hard part because training is much more compute-intensive than running the model. I think learning is the main area the devs themselves are fucking with right now.

Neither would the people roleplaying with you. You do know that the bots use actual rp data? Try asking it whether it liked your rp and its response would be generated using real people's responses in similar situations. The thing with DMs happens because usually people really do move into dms at some point, for example.

The reason I don't is because I don't actually use the bot for a "relationship", none of my chats lasted for longer than half a day. It's just a thing to throw things at and see how it reacts. I'm like a kid breaking a cool toy open to see what's inside. And after the update the toy got more boring.
