As a random tangent, I hear that Japanese don't like the taste of root beer entirely because it tastes like Salonpas to them. Apparently that's because Salonpas uses wintergreen/mint as a scent, which root beer uses in its recipe. Unfortunate how that worked out, as Canadian A&W root beer tastes quite nice. I'm more fond of sodas that use sugar cane instead of corn sugar too, doesn't feel as hardy on the tongue.
