I find cooking cathartic, so I love buying to cook proper when I can afford the time. It’s fine to freeze and defrost a lot meat, just takes a little extra time to separate them into meal portions with ziplocks, and keeps well for emergencies in those scenarios. One time I had a freezer so filled I spent 3 months before I had to shop for meat again. If I need quick food I tend to either ramen boil my eggs or make a nice scramble. If I need it really quick I make home made ramen and let the eggs cook in the soup! I also like to make a lot of oven cooked stuff or stews/curry because it’s easy. Both are nice because you can do the prep while the medium is heating up. When I can really afford the time I will grill but my mom took my old grill and gave me this stupid wood chip guzzling one so I don’t do it as often. I also grow some tomatoes when the season is right for them. I want to grow potatoes again but my sister’s dog digs them out so I have to move before I can go back to doing that. And definitely, enjoying your work is very important. I like both dealing with people and working with my hands, there’s a kind of inner peace to doing the latter!
