It's not, but it's like having healing items in DMC. It's a heavy impact action so it kinda makes sense, and there's a universal (tacit or explicit) agreement depending on game that using them makes you a lil' bitch. They're also somewhat limited.
Zelda is an adventure game and it's already really easy to begin with, so having an infinite amount of healing that you can use at any time is just (???)
