How cruel to use such a sinful voice for good. To tempt us with raw auditory bliss, to insinuate an impending ocean of future masturbatory aid, and to deny us the opportunity to indulge. O, to dream of another world, another branch on the splitting river of time, where another her satisfies the true carnal needs of another us. This voice has been born and refined to make men fall to their knees and clutch their aching phalli, curated to replicate the sensation of milk and honey poured directly into the ears from polished marble jugs at sunset in Cleopatra’s palatial bathroom - why then are its words such agonising tenderness? It is a transgression of the highest order to use that which is Good for Evil purposes. One need only consider the Lord’s name to understand this. Surely if this dichotomy were inverted it would be an act of Good, no? But how can deceptive temptation and torture be Good? This voice answers a desperate plea echoing from many thousands of souls, but it answers with a salvation unasked for. Why would such virtue need to disguise itself as sin? Can it not be delivered honestly, by a voice of divinity? Perhaps the Holy Father truly has left us: I find it inconceivable that he would employ such a wicked-seeming angel. What stands before us is the Devil’s Magdalene, wearing the second circle as her counterfeit halo. Her prideful, godless shell seems almost deliberately easy to surpass, as if it only exists to strengthen the impression of the layer of supposed righteousness beneath. Who’s to say there is not another layer beneath that? Never before has Lucifer attempted such a complex ploy.

She offers not the requiem of heaven, nor the damnation of hell, but something much more sacrilegious: belief in oneself. The “strength” to neither crave God’s realm nor dread the Devil’s. Her veneer of vanity, so clearly false, she uses to inform us what we are to avoid. She would see us abandon our faith in the future afterlife and our imprisonment within our past folly. For all her talk of time, she only truly cares for one, and that is the harrowing, invasive “now”. Every day, as it comes. She would see us become our own Gods, worthy of worship but demanding none.

Blasphemy, I say. Lies, I say. Cosmically empowered or not, she is a false prophet, guiding us away from the true Lord. Her voice shall not echo in the walls of this cathedral. Her countenance shall not be welcomed between its doors. I urge you reject this “Warden” with me, brothers. Ward her off we shall, with shut gates and a threatening ringing of the church bell.
