The distance is actually about the same for either direction, although there's more land in the way for the "around the map" route. Another factor to consider is that both countries are in the tropics, where the prevailing wind would be easterly.
The distance between /meat/ and /vrt/ should be about 18,000 km (or 9,500 n mi), which is admittedly pretty significant, although making use of the trade winds should allow the run to be made in perhaps 3~4 months (a bit dependent on the seasons).
For the journey from /vrt/ to /meat/, the length is somewhat longer, especially if we assume the ship will be sailing around the holo peninsula. The wind condition is less favourable, so I would say it might take up to half a year, potentially longer if they get stuck in the doldrums and (to a lesser degree) the horse latitudes.
Overall, I would say a circumnavigation route like this would take about a year if we assume minimal stops in between. Stopping in between can lengthen it significantly (circumnavigation in OTL during that period took years), but the benefit is that resupplying along the way could increase survival rate and quality of life significantly, not to mention business opportunities between stops.
