Actually vegetables contain little to no vitamin D, besides some kinds of mushrooms. Humans developed the mechanism of absorbing sunlight through their skin and converting it into vitamin D for a reason, as it's typically very hard to get enough through our diets. It's also why governments encourage fortifying milk with vitamin D, in the same way they fortify flour with niacin and salt with iodine. That said of course you should still eat plenty of fruits and veggies to cover many other important nutrients.

Fun fact: despite vitamin C being associated with citrus fruits like oranges, you very likely consume far more it from potatoes.
