if we're being optimistic then it was more than likely the mains cable that plugs into the brick itself being loose. Those things tend to make an ominous fizzling noise as the mains power arcs to the contacts on the brick. Considering the brick is mostly made up of a transformer and some surge protection, if it's actually the brick contents making weird noises then that is NOT a good sign
