I spend a lot of time thinking about how men and women (especially in America) seem unwilling to empathize with the opposite gender’s problems specifically because of how different their experiences are. It’s a “grass is greener” type situation - they each have what the other wants.
Men are socially isolated. They’re raised in a society that teaches them to suppress themselves and their feelings and die alone and unloved if they don’t measure up to a very specific parameter of masculinity. Meanwhile, women are socially overstimulated, living in a society that tells them their bodies, thoughts, and feelings are public property, and they’ll never have a moment to themselves, feeling free, without their bodies being both the subject of public discourse and public lust. So much gendered stratification - the strict drawing of lines, incel and hardcore radical feminists - derives from men being desperately lonely, and women being desperately overstimulated. There has to be a solution. We can’t go on like this for much longer.
