I don't think there's a need to rebrand and drop the character and the established and beloved things from her channel, that's all. Other vtubers changed models and artists with no issues.
What she did up to this point made almost a thousand people subscribe for her, give her money and support. There's no need to discard any of this. Adapt and evolve. Using the same example again, Subaru is not a tomboy sports manager anymore, everyone embraced the way she evolved, there was no need to try to erase the past.
We've come to a point where the very representation of the fans became a touchy subject. Why? What's the need to antagonize what the fanbase came to love?

Her first thread was about design feedback. She started off with a tan tomboy design. Anons asked her if she could pull off a tomboy personality and she didn't think she could. She ended up changing her design to be based on Zashiki-warashi because she thought it would fit more to her personality.
