I still think the elephant in the room on the whole Golden 20 to... whatever the hell came after the Golden 20, is that Cover opened auditions for Holostars EN. Before that, any reasonably successful EN male vtuber had either to be an indie or in Nijisanji. After Holostars EN started auditions of their own, the quality of the new NijiEN male vtubers - precisely those male vtubers that were supposed to be the main draw of Nijisanji EN - plummeted, and hasn't recovered since.
Would somebody like Vezalius have ever been able to pass a Nijisanji audition if Holostars EN weren't promising all boys in EN vtubing they'd get access to the girls in (the male collaborationist faction of) HoloEN? This is what YAGOO was after.
The good news is that Nijisanji EN was going to ACCELERATE along the path to self-destruction even without any of this, so Cover can invest on the actually important stuff now.
