I put some food in the cage and left and ghost cat was back when I checked again. I think the reason he breaks in is that there's a mean old outdoors cat who wants to fight him. The mean cat cannot get in and our indoor cat cannot get out. Only this strange fellow can penetrate the walls of the cage.
