fun fact, for quite some time the rolls in FE games weren't just a straight 1-100 roll, but the sum of two 1-50 rolls, which means that hit/crit chances were actually extremer than the displayed percentage.
The modern games use a hybrid where that exaggeration is weaker and only applies to percentages above 50%.
