>absolutely shit fortune
Eh, I kinda knew what I was getting into, even when writing the first Ninisanni Scenario. Don't feel too sorry for me.
>kind of locked in Reimu as the canon girl
Yeah, she is pretty far in the running when you think about it. I mean, she got the subroute in NNSN1, her epilogue is the only one that's canon, and it's clear they spend a lot of time together and trust each other. She's his sewing partner, and he also works with her ghostbusting (in essence trusting her with his life).
With the other girls, it's like, he loves Nina because she's his best friend. He loves Elira because she's his on-again off-again girlfriend. He loves Finana because she's his little sister. But with Reimu, it's like, their relationship isn't based on concrete titles, but shared experience that we see in realtime.
As for the others, aside from Rosemi, he's not as close to any of the 22-32 Quartet. With Millie, he still idolizes her too much and she's probably the most distant from him (except for maybe Elira). Pomu is more like a twin sister to the MC. And with Enna... well, I won't get into it in case I ever do decide to write more, but there's more to their relationship than meets the eye.
Again, I feel guilty, because I chose to give Reimu more bonding time demonstrating their growing relationship compared to the others. But it's a lovely relationship, makes for a great story, and you enjoyed it, so it's not that bad, right?
I've already written a lot, but I'm going off!
I feel like uWedding kind of settled the question on canonness between them. The MC has a thing about commitment. And Reimu is still fairly immature herself. Either she accepts this is the way he is, and chooses to follow him regardless. Or she proves himself to him enough to abandon his entire harem and commit.

>barroom stat raiser/management otome comedy (moderate gameplay mechanics, medium-long length)
Interesting choice. The MC in this one is top tier, and the ideas I've had for it so far are funny.
>Playing your VN also got me feeling like making my own VN
Definitely do it! Steal my code! Making VNs is a lot of fun, and differs in a lot of ways than writing raw. It's sort of like being a stage director.
>I feel like there needs to be a decent cast of characters to keep things interesting, even if they're not a romantic option.
I get that feeling too. That's the one thing that's keeping me from straightening out that single girl romance story. It just feels like, every scene is just the same face every time. The conversations and antics might get interesting, but it's just the same girl over and over again. Even if the story is novella length.
I have a feeling it might just be me though, my writing can get pedantic sometimes.

Worse. Romancing a megane.

Burnout sucks. But is it burnout or ennui? I've found that I can only be burned out for a hobby I enjoy and I just need some time away or need to hang out with friends or set a more reasonable timeframe or something.
But ennui is the killer. Sheer boredom, no longer getting anything out of it, no longer passionate or curious about what you can accomplish. If it's ennui, there's no recourse of than to just move on. Maybe one day the spark of passion will light back up again. Maybe it won't. Either way, you won't care because you're now apathetic to it.
If the thought of abandoning writing gives you fear or dread or something else, then you're just burned out, and that's solvable through copes.
