I'm not trying to be unique but there are people dropping "oooh I can't make it bros" and shit like that in damn near every thread I go in.
I'm concerned for my oshi, but coco and her are good friends, and won't let this be the end to their friendship. She's financially well off now, plus with the whole hololhouse situation. I'm not worried about her future mental state.

Cover actually despises Coco for essentially forcing them to kill off China revenue and does everything in their power to actively sabotage her until she leaves on her own. Not allowing her to collab with EN, modding Zhangs "accidentally" so they ban her subscribed members en masse, even something as small as telling Fubuki to state the dragon in alternative PV wasn't Coco, to cause a rift between Coco and Fubuki, one of her few allies.

Everything is deliberate to whittle her down because they don't want the backlash of firing her outright.

You have an entire generation of young adults now who have been raised online, and basically learned to function online. I have more friends who I've never met than those I actually have, and have met people in recent years who I've known for over 10. And many people are much worse than me when it comes to connecting with others. What this has led to is an enormous market where people can exploit the countless lonely internet dwellers by offering them fake companionship. Gamerbros are part of that, camgirls are part of that, and vtubers are just the latest fad in that regard. It's only going to get worse too. Imagine in ten years when the Gen Z's that spent a year+ of their life in online learning get disposable income?

VTubers are basically selling an idealized girlfriend, who shares your interests, plays games with you, watches movies with you, offers conversation and companionship, has none of the flaws that come with a real girl, and most of all demands nothing of you in return. Of course something like that is going to be massively successful in this age of isolation. Being surprised or disgusted by it is just not understanding that this is simply the market catering to a demand that already existed.
