Mixer was different, they weren't allowed to go live on Twitch at all. XQC goes live on Twitch every day to build up 60k viewers then moves over to Kick. Kick might have too big of a stigma to attract most vtubers though. Zentreya had people attacking them on twitter just for streaming over there for half an hour as a test a couple of days ago.
