Don't worry, Ken was viewed pretty positively overall, the ending to his story arc was just that he just wanted to be viewed as a person and cared for by someone he cared about and the resolution was cutting him loose, free to be his own person
Ironically, Barbie came across as self-absorbed and downright maliciously stupid in her own scenes and only really served as a tool and vehicle for Weird Barbie to enforce the status quo before Barbie decides she wants to go and become a real girl, although with minor concessions to the Kens in a backhanded commentary about women in seats of political power
