Similar experience here, except I've been on and off.
I'm mostly happy with my life choices. I would have zero complaints if my parents sent me to JP school during my childhood or something, just to consume more JP media and culture.

I've thought about this since I want to do my first visit as soon as I can go on vacation. I'd like to imagine you can find specific stuff if you go to specific events, e.g., a doujin convention or an STG event.

I'm financially stable and have a professional career, but don't want to let go of some childish habits. The most notable one being that I refuse to go to bed early if there's something interesting going on on the computer, and it wouldn't surprise me if I get disorders similar to Beatani's down the line due to constant sleep deprivation.
